WHO KILLED UGO OZUAH?

Its a very sad and disheartening story, the type one can only pray happened in the movies or in the fiction of anybody's imagination.

This is the story of Ugo Ozuah, an alumnus of Kings college Lagos and the university of Ibadan. A hearty fellow, fun to be around, who had only tied the nuptial knots with the love of his life, on the 15th Day of September 2012 but met his untimely death in the hands of unknown gunmen on the around 10pm thursday 20th September 2012 at UPS Junction in the Anthony Village suburb of Lagos exactly 5 days after his wedding.

A lot of broadcast messages and online social media platforms have generated reactions to a version of this story making the rounds. The insinuation that Ugo was shot at point blank range by officers of the Nigerian police force while attempting to flag down a cab. This troubling insinuation led me on a fact finding mission to unravel the complicity of the Police in such a heinous crime.

My findings, brought me in contact with an eye witness (names withheld) of the happenings of thursday 20th September 2012 at UPS Junction in Anthony Village which led to Ugo Ozuah's death.

It turns out that, while the eyewitness was at the scene, where Ugo was also standing along side a friend, a car pulled up and some men (suspected to be robbers) attempted to snatch a car in what looked like an effort to change their get away car, immediately the men surfaced with Guns and shot in the air, some lucky few including Ugo's friend took to their heels and escaped to safety. The others including Ugo were commanded not to run and move closer by one of the suspected robbers, while the others battled with the car they wanted to snatch.

Ugo, the eyewitness and others complied and as they approached the gun wielding member of the gang, he aimed at random and shot Ugo twice at close range. In the ensuing pandemonium, the robbers who were unable to snatch the car successfully jumped into their get away car and zoomed off leaving Ugo's lifeless body.

While the Nigerian Police Force have hitherto now been notorious for series of extra judicial killings popularly known as 'accidental discharge', it is important to state that the officers of the force according to the eyewitness, were in no way complicit in the gruesome, cold blooded murder Ugo Ozuah.

I hereby use this medium to urge the officers and Men of the Nigerian Police Force to investigate, find and bring to book the perpetrators of this Murder.
